You often cannot read unfamiliar abbreviations and unusual names of the ingredients on food labels. But keep in mind that some of them can be very dangerous. We will introduce those that you should AVOID:
Monosodium glutamate (MSG), or E621 is a flavor enhancer that is most commonly found in industrial products such as instant soups and meat products. Although after decades of use in the food industry is not proven to have a detrimental effect on health, there are indications that the consumption of foods that contain it can cause symptoms such as headaches and nausea.
Artificial sweeteners are, due to lack of energy value and intense sweetness, now ubiquitous in the market of many food products. Their application can have a positive impact in people who are on reduction diets and in people with diabetes.
However, some artificial sweeteners such as aspartame (E951), have potentially harmful effects on the health of the subject (as shown by the numerous studies), but for many there is no scientific evidence of harm, and their use in the food industry is very widespread.
They are formed by partial hydrogenation of vegetable oils. Products where the trans-fatty acids take the top three places in the list of ingredients, generally contain higher amounts of this kind of fat. It can increase the level of “bad” LDL cholesterol, which contributes to the risk of heart disease.

Nitrites and nitrates
Nitrites and nitrates are preservatives which are used mainly in the production of cured meats, cheeses and salt fish. They can disturb the organism’s transport of oxygen in the blood and therefore is recommended to avoid products that contain them. Children can be particularly sensitive to these so be careful.
E102 and E123
The use of artificial colorings such as atrazine (E102) and amaranth (E123) is banned in some countries because of doubts that they cause various health problems. When choosing products, you should always give priority to natural colors such as paprika extract (E160c) and turmeric (E100).
