The study of English Exeter University found that consuming foods rich in natural nitrates, such as beetroot, improves exercise endurance. Scientists studied different substances and methods of training in order to discover what improves durability. Beet juice has proven to be most effective, improving durability by 16%. Natural nitrates dilate blood vessels and allow greater flow of oxygen to the heart.

  1. Beetroot is a major veggie fighter for my fertility patients, as it is such a great blood builder. Chinese medicine agrees with Western one that beetroots provide excellent blood improving qualities, essential in reproductive medicine, for both mum-to-be and the growing embryo. Endometrial lining has to be very rich in good quality blood to be able to support implantation of the embryo and its development into a helathy baby.

Great eaten on their own, roasted with some goat’s cheese, or even in morning smoothies, with some blueberries, banana, and a drop of honey!

    • Hello Gordana, thank you for this amazing comment full of information. Awesome idea for the morning beet smoothie, sounds delicious 🙂
